Dances with Wolves

This movie is one of the movies that had touched my heart deeply because expresses what humans beings are and what they could become if there is selfishness. The movie is used the figure between how two different and opposite cultures can be mixed as one. Therefore, the values of love, freedom, friendship, among others are the main aspects represented in the movie. The other aspect that called my attention is the role that the wolf has in the movie because it is the way in which the two cultures started to be together. Furthermore, I believe that this is not just coincidence because there might be to explain that sometimes animals do have values that can go further than human beings, and on the other hand, humans beings fall into arrogance and selfishness just to get power, domain, and money, not caring about the people that is around, and neither the consequences that it could carry.

The other aspect that it is important to point out is how the movie present stereotypes, and how they affect people’s life to the point to death. In the movie there is stereotyping when American people wanted to colonize them in order to teach them how to leave “properly” according to their beliefs. Something similar happened with our culture; therefore, in these cases when people thing that they are better than other people or culture, they are falling also in stereotyping. As a result, I believe that we as teachers cannot fall into that we have to promote social values; tolerance, love, respect, friendship, among others, just as the movie taught.

Social Network and Education

This is the topic that all of us should be familiar with because it belongs to our students’ world. However, from my personal point of view there should be a difference between using social networks as a tool for learning, and being part of our students’ lives. I do not like much writing in social networks, but I can invite my students to write because they are used to. In other words there will not be an extra homework, but an interesting and creativity way to express their thoughts developing a second language.

Leandro did a very good micro lesson. First, he used relevant information, which considered not only the advantages of using social networks, but also the disadvantages of using it. Second, his English was very good, but he has to be careful with overusing slangs. And third, the micro lesson was well staged and organized; however, the last activity was not appropriated to assess the contents taught because there was not time to do that. Finally, I congratulate Leandro for his presentation, and I invite teachers to use social networks with their students because I guarantee you that there will be learning after all.

Healthy Food and Academic Performance

Eating healthy food is one of the difficult disciplines to apply nowadays due to the accelerated lives that most of us have. This is one of the positive aspects to consider because it improves our quality of life. Moreover, we should be aware of this because most of the time our students come to classes without breakfast and this would be a disadvantage for them to learn and stay focus.

Renato did an interesting performance and the topic election was relevant. Moreover, he is so full of life and enthusiastic to present that his personality is absolutely one of his strengths. However, he must be careful with pronunciation, spelling, and technical words. Finally, I have to congratulate Renato because beyond the negative aspects of his micro lesson he presented the topic with energy and creativity, and I believe that we need more of that in our stressful lives.

Chilean Education on Twitter

This social network is becoming very popular due to the improvements in technology. In my personal opinion, I am not so related with social networks, but they are useful anyway. Twitter is closely related with education because it is used for teachers to expose their personal experiences, creative methodologies, and new ways of learning. Moreover, it is also used as a communicator because there are twits about important and relevant news about teachers, and education in general.

Twitter apart from being used as a communicative tool could be also used as a way to teach English because our students can expose their personal opinion practicing the language. Therefore, this could be an entertaining way to learn and practice English. Students could learn how to use new words, grammar, and reason.

Attention Deficit Disorder

Attention Deficit Disorder is a very close topic nowadays because most of us have seen a child hyperactive. I remember one of my students at the school where I am doing my professional practice that is always moving, jumping, and teasing. Therefore, as teachers we have to be aware of this topic and know how to deal with it.

Fernanda did a very good research; in my personal opinion, she did a very good micro lesson because she used technical words, the information was precise, and the micro lesson was well staged. However, she overused her personal notes, and read too much from the power point. Therefore, was too much teaching talking time and too little students talking, giving opinions, and etc. Finally, I congratulate Fernanda because she managed the topic very well, she monitored the class properly during the activities, and she looked for interesting and relevant information.

Educación 2020

This page is very useful because it is created to look for proposals from the different participant of education; teachers, parents, students, and anybody that want to contribute to improve the Chilean education. They fight for achieving that by 2020 every student has a better and significant education.

This page is one of the current strategies to come to agreement on this controversial topic. Therefore, I feel very proud of it, and I think we all should become part of it in order to find different proposals, to contribute with other ideas, and to get in touch with the people’s thought.

Video Games an Entertaining Way to Learn

I was not interesting with this topic because I do not know much about video games. On the other hand, considering that we as teachers have to plan and prepare the lessons from the students’ reality I agree to use video games as a tool for teaching English but I steel think that should be monitored to avoid addiction. Moreover, Juan Manuel performed a well staged micro lesson, interesting information, and entertaining activities.

First, the micro lesson was clearly staged. Second, the information covered was balance, and he not only pointed out the advantages of his thesis, but also he explained the disadvantages. And third, the activities were engaging and useful; however, it could have been even more efficient if all of us could have played because there were like ten people being passive while the other were playing video games. Finally, I ended accepting this topic as a tool for learning only when there are supervision and the possibility of considering the whole class.

Teachers' Strike

What is it about?

It is about two main points; the first is the municipal bonus known as SAE, and the second, is the historical debt. Teachers are fighting for being paid because according to the SAE bonus it supposed that the government granted to municipalities to gave it to public teachers at the end of the year; however, municipalities never paid, and in relation to the historical debt, it is called historical because it emerged when public schools became part of municipalities; therefore, teachers who worked in public schools had to get this benefit, but none of the teachers did.

Is it fair?

This question is difficult to answer because according to any worker’s right this is absolutely unbelievable. Most of the professional in our country receive what it is guaranteed for them according the law, but in the case of teachers that is not applied. Therefore, it is inacceptable and disrespectful. The teachers should be paid, and the strike it is fair because at this point it is the only way to make the authority understand that it is not fair for any worker the situation that they are facing.

Is it ethical?

It is not so ethical because teachers should teach another ways to solve conflicts, but unhappily that is not most of the time applied because sometimes people need to do things like this to be heard. Therefore, it is not ethical, but it is necessary.

Is it legitimate?

It is absolutely justified because from my personal point of view it is the only way to make the authorities understand that they have to do something about, and to be consistent with the teachers’ rights.

Text Analysis

Firstly, when I heard this topic I thought this was more related with the academic part of our lives. However, after the Fabian’s micro lesson, I could realize that text analysis could be one of the tools to teach English because students can practice reading comprehension, identify the important words in texts, and learn new vocabulary.

Fabian did a very good micro lesson because the three stages were presented clearly. However, there were problems with the power point presentation in terms of spelling, font size, and color combination. Moreover, his English was sometimes difficult to understand, but I have to congratulate Fabian because I have seen a huge progress in terms of language since I know him.

Teaching Large Classes

This topic is so familiar to me because I attended one of the Jeremy Hamer presentations at the university, and I could realize that long classes and long lessons are possible to set in an entertaining and effective way. Moreover, this topic is also relevant for us because in most of the schools the amount of students go over forty students per class. Therefore, we have to be prepared to plan according to a large class.

Franco’s micro lesson was meaningful and well prepared. Moreover, the power point presentation had the precise information written in Standard English with no error. However, in my personal opinion there was too much teaching talking time because Franco explained almost everything, and I would like to guess, discuss, and read more. Finally, this topic was very useful, the information covered was interesting and precise, and Franco was a well communicator.

Philadelphia

This movie shows the stereotypes that society set. It is the story about one successful layer surrounded by colleagues and friends, but after his boss realized that he had AIDS his boss found the way to fired him. Therefore, discrimination, stereotyping, and values are the most controversial topics presented. Nowadays, these topics are also in the discussion, but in different levels because we all are aware of the importance of respect in life.

We as teachers have to be careful with falling in discriminating our students by any aspects. In this case there were sexual discrimination, but nowadays can be racial, gender, among others. Finally, I liked this movie because of the huge set of values that expressed even though I disagree with homosexuality I consider human beings to be respected.

Billy Elliot

This movie shows the stereotypes that society and family were presented in the eighties. Basically, the movie defines the two differences between how a man should be, and how a woman should be. Billy Elliot is raised by a strict poor patriarchal family; the father worked in a mine and her mother took care of the house. Therefore, the father taught Billy how to be a man putting his child to practice boxing. However, Billy wanted to be a dancer and he fought against society stereotypes and could achieve his dream after all.

We as teachers have to learn about this movie that stereotypes are not good for our students developing because we cannot impose what they suppose to do or be only according to what we think is better for them, but according to students’ abilities and interests. Moreover, the set of values that are presented are also memorable because perseverance is one of the important aspects of the pursuit of a certain goal.

Urban Tribes

Patricia did a very good presentation because she performed the three stages of a micro lesson, she used a very good English, and she research her topic very well. Moreover, the activity was also useful to put in practice the contents that she taught. Congratulations Patricia and God bless you with your baby.

This topic is one of the most complicated topics in our schools from my personal point of view because every school has regulations to rule students’ presentation, behavior, and so on. The problem appears when students decide to identify themselves with a special group of people that dress, speak, and even think in a particular way, wanting to carry it to the classroom. Therefore, we have to be aware of what urban tribes are to teach our students from their reality not from ours.

Conflict Management in the Classroom

I choose this topic because I was moved to find some information in order to manage the class properly. Sometimes, teachers make mistakes on this area because they lose their self control and try students disrespectful. Therefore, we should be aware of this because conflicts are presented in every place, situation, and environment. We as human beings face conflicts always; thus, we should not only how to deal with them, but also how to avoid them.

I learn a lot from this micro lesson, and I enjoy it very much preparing the material, the activities, and the power point presentation. Moreover, we should use any situation as a tool for learning. I hope my classmates could have learnt as much as I learnt, and put all the techniques in practice because these situations could even produce a bad experience in our life as teachers.

Anime as a Tool for Teaching English

This topic is not one of my favorite because I am not much interested on anime. However, I have to congratulate Loreto because she opened my mind in some way. I have never thought that this topic could have been used in a classroom to teach English. Moreover, Loreto did a well stage microteaching, a very good research, and some entertaining activities. However, she should prepare her material according to the time because it was too long considering that we have only fifteen minutes to perform.

In my personal point of view, this tool to teach English because students are interested on this topic; furthermore, they also watch cartoons, play games, etc. in which anime and English are related.

Interactive Board

The use of technology is also one of the most relevant topics for us. Roxana did a very good research and that was one of the strength of her presentation. Moreover, the fact that Roxana focused her topic in the use of the electronic board, and the importance of the innovations in teaching made her presentation even more relevant.

In my personal opinion, this kind of instruments are useful only when you know how to use them, but if you do not know how to manage them would be a disadvantage and a loose of time during a lesson. Therefore, considering that students are every day more demanded, we need to be up dated. However, this discipline is difficult to practice because teachers do not have those kinds of technologies to use and learn. On the other hand, there we are to fight against the routine, and to face and overcome the impossible to make it possible.

Music Therapy

This topic was absolutely interesting for me because I did not know much about it, but I was aware that music could also be a good tool to teach English. Moreover, Maria Paz did a very good presentation because the topic was creatively presented, her English was properly, and the three stages of a micro lesson were clearly developed.

In my personal opinion music therapy should be used in schools to increase the students’ abilities not also in the cognitive area, but also in the emotional, in the social, and in the physical ones. Furthermore, considering that nowadays some of the people are raising their children in a most individual way, this kind of practices could be transcendental in those children that do not have the appropriate environment to develop themselves in an integrated way. Therefore, I agree with Maria Paz and I congratulate her for her choice.

Why English Teachers should Study Abroad?

The answer to this question is the answer that nowadays is completely important and relevant. Panchito exposed three support statements to explain why English teachers should study abroad. He exposed some facts about the importance of the English language over the world, as an introduction to express that qualify English speakers are required, English teachers need cultural knowledge, and studying abroad it is more accessible nowadays. I absolutely agree with those asseverations because of the improvements in technology, science, and other areas, English has became in one of the universal languages.

Personally, I am aware of this topic; therefore, I decided to study abroad with the ministerial program “English opens doors”, and it does indeed! Studying in any English speaking country gives you tools that any teacher can provide because you learn from a personal experience and that kind of experimental learning never goes away. Finally, we cannot be satisfied with what we have reached until now. I believe that we have been born to go for more. Congratulation my sweet teddy bear, you did an excellent and absolutely relevant work!

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is an absolutely relevant topic for us. This presentation was well organized and interesting. I learnt how identify plagiarism even though when students most of the time find other ways to cheat. We as teachers have to be aware of plagiarism not only because it is very common, but also because it is illegal. We must teach our students the real problem of taking somebody’s words to create awareness, and thus prevent them somehow to fall into something like that.

Finally, I have to congratulate Denisse because she did a very good micro teaching. However, she must plan according to the time because the information was the most part of the time, but the practice stage was a little bit poor. I would like to put in practice more because the tips and information were very useful and complete. Moreover, Denisse’s English is very clear, and accurate. Congratulations!

Buddhism

Buddhism is one of the topics that I disagree with because it goes against with my own believes. However, I agree with its relevance in today’s world. Everyday there are more religions, and ideologies that we as teachers cannot be far from what is happening. Therefore, I congratulate Renato for pointing this topic out. He explained not only the basis of Buddhism, but also the allegedly advantages for those who follow it. The presentation was covered properly; personally, I liked the practice stage when we had to read a text and guess about the meaning of the story in our daily life. This was helpful to develop speaking, reading, and also writing skills because students have to read, discuss, and write about the important aspects found in the text.

These topics are useful to get the students’ attention; therefore the contents can be taught using a catching topic. Therefore, students are more willing to work because the topic is relevant to them. Finally, even though we as teachers could disagree with some topics, we have to do anything based on students, not based on us. Moreover, Renato did a very good presentation; he only needs to be aware of time and plan according to it.

A Beautiful Mind

This movie is closely related with education and the possibility that all people have in order to change their future. The movie is based on a real story; it is a mathematic that started his life as a student and ended as a teacher. Moreover, this teacher had schizophrenia, but that was not an obstacle to continue with living and developing himself. Furthermore, his family, especially his wife supported him in everything, in every process and crisis that he had to face.

The previous facts support the importance of the students and families’ attitude towards education because in this case both, the teacher and his wife, were willing to do anything that could be necessary not only to go through the illness, but also to improve their quality of life. Therefore, we as teachers should consider this point to encourage our students to go for more, and to show them that it is absolutely possible and real for them to do it. As a result, teachers cannot just leave their students to live as birds, in other words, to leave them to live not thinking about their future, their interests, and their abilities because we have to lead and promote the curiosity, creativity, perseverance, among others.

Radio-Drama

Radio drama is one of the most interesting tools to teach English. In my personal opinion, these kinds of activities let students not only practice speaking and pronunciation, but also reading and listening. Moreover, the fact that students participate actively during the lessons promotes the idea of using radio drama nowadays inside of our classrooms. Students are more demanding; they have most of the time access to the information. Therefore, we as teachers should demonstrate with our lessons the importance of being taught by someone who knows deeply the subject matter, and have the effective elements to transmit that knowledge to other people.

Finally, I have to congratulate Pia because her topic was absolutely relevant and interesting for all of us. Furthermore, she performed a micro teaching, every stage was clearly covered, and the practice was very effective and entertaining. However, she seemed to be extremely nervous, which sometimes affected her pronunciation. From my personal point of view, in order to communicate the message properly she must control her stress better. That is the little detail she need to improve, but it is normal and completely comprehensive; congratulations Pia.

Freedom Writers

This movie is absolutely one of the movies that teachers should considerer watching it to learn. It is based on a real story, and it is a very good tool for us to understand deeply not only the important role that teachers have, but also how they impact on their students’ lives. In the movie the teacher had to face different difficult situations, but none of them stopped her from achieving her objective of getting students involved with learning. I learnt that if teachers have the real vocation to teach believing in students’ change and improvement, they will have to go against the routine, and to avoid getting stuck only on the contents. Students are fed up of learning from the theory; they need to learn from their experience, their background, their real and daily life, and that was what the teacher from the movie did. She realized that she had to find a way to get them involved starting from their mind; for instance, I remember how the teacher used one of the situations to give them a social education when the class was laughing at one of the student due to a cartoon of him. She could penalize the student who did the drawing, but she used it to teach them comparing the situation with the history, the Holocaust, and with their daily life, the gangs’ battles.

Finally, this movie is absolutely touchable because the teacher succeeded even though their students’ social problems, their colleagues and school administrators, and her husband. She was persevering, focusing firstly on knowing students’ needs, interests, and problems. It meant a lot to me because it encourage me to keep believing that people can change their starts not only if they really want to, but also if there is somebody to lead them properly.

Guardian: Provider, Protector, Supervisor, or Inspector?

According to the Keirsey Temperament Sorter Report, my personality fits with the characteristics of guardians. It refers that I can be sociable and outgoing, but I am responsible and serious when I have to work. I completely agree with this point, but I disagree with the next idea of enjoying working in teams, whether I am leading it or following a credible leader. The truth is that I do not like working with other people very much because it is risky; in fact, I would rather work only with one person because it is easier to come to agreements and to advance to the objectives.

Finally, I can assure that I felt identified with the test on certain areas; therefore, it was useful to decide which type of guardian I am. In my opinion I fit with the mixture between supervisor and protector because both are related with the way that I behave; I am like a supervisor observing and checking everything, and at the same time I am a protector looking always for the fulfillments of human beings’ rights.

Presentations

The presentations covered in the first semester were:

Marlene and Franco

The topic of their presentation was “How Teachers Inspire?” They did a very organized and concise presentation, but they did not carry out with the micro lesson required because their presentation was a lecture. They spoke most of the time explaining all the ideas, not letting the audience to guess or to discover the contents. However, I learnt very well that teachers are not only the instructors, but also the educators.

Javiera, Pamela, and Pia

The topic of their presentation was “Teacher’s Styles in the Classroom” They covered the topic very well because they explained not only the characteristics of the different teachers’ styles. Consequently, I learnt a lot from this presentation because it was useful for me to identify the characteristics of the mixed of styles that I have, and how they are going to influence in my career.

Loreto, Fernanda, and Renato

The topic of their presentation was “Positive Psychology: A Secret for Happiness” They did a very complete presentation because they not only prepare the power point, but also showed an interesting video according to the topic. However, this visual aid turned against them a little bit because there was some information in Spanish. They should be more careful in future presentations because this situation cannot happen again, but apart from this detail, I learnt very much about this new subject, and it was useful to understand better the real importance of focusing your concern on the life’s processes, not on the results.

Juan Manuel and NicolƔs

The topic of their presentation was “The New 5 Minds for the 21st Century” This presentation was very interesting because they explained these types of minds and their characteristics. Moreover, they were very well prepared; both of them knew the topic explaining it very well, but Nicolas overused his notes. I know him very well, and I know how nerves he gets when he has to perform presentations; therefore, I can assure that this was the reason why he tended to look at his notes instead of looking at the power point. However, in my opinion they did a very good research on the topic, and it was useful for me to identify which mind or minds fitted with me.

Roxana, MarĆa Paz, and Renato

The topic of their presentation was “Teacher’s Personality; Which Type Are you?” This presentation was very interesting because they covered not only the theoretical aspects, but also the practical ones. I have to congratulate Renato because I can notice a very good improvement in their vocabulary and pronunciation. According to the topic, it was useful for me to learn the different types of personalities and how each of them affects on our students. This was a very relevant topic, and I liked very much because we could share our experience with the material they prepared.

Francisco and I

Our topic was “The Young Teacher and Teenagers; Vertical or Horizontal Relations” In my personal opinion, I enjoyed the presentation very much because the topic was very interesting and useful for the audience. Apart from the theoretical aspect, the activity that we prepared was absolutely appropriated because all the situations were so practical that the audience could share their experience and opinion. I also want to thank my fiancĆ©, Francisco, to be so intelligent, charming, creative, and a million of characteristics that makes him to be my perfect lover, friend, and partner.

Leandro, Fabian, and Alvaro

Their topic was “The Characteristics of Effective Teachers” This presentation was very concise because the group covered the topic organizing aspects related with students’ needs, class’ atmosphere, and lesson plan. The activity was appropriated and effective; it was useful not only to evaluate our understanding on the topic already explained, but also to share our experience and background. This presentation was very useful for me, and they did a very good presentation despite of the difficulties that they had to face. Therefore, I congratulate them for the very good use of the English Laboratory, and their concise presentation.

EducarChile Portal

Educarchile.cl is the portal for the educational community. The purpose of this webpage is to improve the quality of education in Chile. In my opinion this portal is very useful not only for teachers, but also for students’ parents because they can also be involved with new educational policies. This portal contains also an English version designed to inform the rest of the world about the educational system and strategies established in Chile.

This English version is regretfully a poor version because the translation is not accurate. There are so many concepts translated so literal, just like when we were learning English at the very elementary beginning; we were thinking in Spanish and writing in English translating literally the conceptual ideas. Therefore, it seems that they were using a translator to put the text into English. I really feel dissatisfied because on one hand they say they are trying to develop and improve all the existing tools they have to be on the crest of the wave, but on the other hand this translated details previously explained express clearly that they are not trying enough.

A ClockWork Orange

This great movie goes beyond the violence that the four youths performed. In my opinion, the author expressed three ideas that arise in society. The first and more transcendental is that violence is presented on the government, the police, and every system because it is the way that this people have the control on society. For instance, the movie shows government administrators and important people drinking milk in the same place where these four youths got together. It also shows that the three members of the gang became policemen even though they still had their perverse behavior. Moreover, it appears Hitler, one of the most evil leaders with the huge distortional mind ever seen on the history of humanity

The second idea is that society is not prepared to receive somebody rehabilitated due to the previous idea. Alex, the main character was rehabilitated in two years for a group of doctors and specialist proposed by the government; however, after the process Alex is repelled by his own family, attacked by his old friends, and stereotyped by the mass media. This episode reminds me the Chilean movie “The Jackal of Nahueltoro” it is also about a criminal that was rehabilitated, and then he was murdered to pay for his crimes. In both cases society was not ready to received and accept them.

The third idea is related with stereotypes; the mass media shows us what they want us to think. Therefore, the author used the characteristics of somebody who has values and a perfect life to express characteristics that supposedly are presented in somebody who has the opposite characteristics. For instance, the criminals drank milk, were intellectuals, loved Beethoven music, and had a stable economic situation. We expect most of the time that people with these characteristics would never act against values or ethic. However, all that asseverations belong to stereotypes; this situation reminds me the movie “Hannibal Lecter” he was a very cultured professor with the same characteristics, intellectual, glamorous, and sophisticated, but he used to kill his victims listening to classical music.

Finally, this movie is one of the best movies through history because expressed relevant and transcendental aspects of life. Moreover, it was useful for me to consider that we as teachers do not have to stereotype our students. In my opinion Alex was a victim of the system, and everybody behave in the same way after all; their family, their friends, the government, everybody discriminated him. In other words they were as violent as he was. Nowadays, these three ideas previously explained are represented due to globalization because we still have wars, famines, and poverty; all these terrible realities caused by violent people who are leading the world.

A Developing Country?

What Is Going on with Public Schools Today?

There are two main points that the educational system is facing, one is the debt of the municipal bond known as SAE, and the other debt is known as “the historical debt”. The first debt referred to a special assignation that the government granted to municipalities to gave it to public teachers at the end of the year; however, municipalities never paid. The second debt emerged when public schools became part of municipalities; therefore, teachers who worked in public schools had to get this benefit, but none of the teachers have received some of it.

How Do I Feel about It?

I feel very disappointed; it is controversial to have to experience this situation at this point of our history. On one hand, there is a clear understanding of the key of development, sending future teachers to study abroad, giving scholarships and credits to vulnerable families, in other words investing on education. However, on the other hand, the people who need all the recognition are left aside by a third mind world. I really hope this situation could be resolved soon because in my opinion teachers should be the best rewarded people due to their role in society.

Clowns also Cry

Teachers’ styles and positive psychology are two aspects clearly linked. Javiera, Pamela, and Pia presented the first topic explaining in detail the different styles that teachers have; some of them were the funny teacher, the teacher who gives life lessons, the fair teacher, the authoritarian teacher, among others. In my opinion teachers should have a mixture of styles because they should be flexible in some situations and diverse in most of the time due to every student’s personality. These two characteristics could be difficult to achieve sometimes because teachers are also human beings who face problems, have frustrations, and so on. However, considering the positive psychology enlightened by Juan and Nicolas, it solves somehow this problematic situation of life. I remember some teachers saying that they are acting from the moment that they enter into the classroom. In my opinion this should not be like that because sooner or later they will collapse, and being realist clowns also cry; therefore, I consider the alternative, which is positive psychology and the explanation of the five minds.

It is very important to be conscious about what mind I have, and what style I perform. On one hand, I reflect myself on the mixture of the creating mind and the ethical mind; on the other hand, according to the teachers’ styles I have also a mixture between the teacher who gives life lessons, and the fair teacher. These two presentations were useful to understand deeply not only the practical situations that teachers should consider at the moment of teaching, but also this important tool of identifying my mind. This will help me not to be that vulnerable because now I know how to stimulate my mind with the positive aspect of life, and the styles that I have as a teacher.

Beyond the Academic Contents

Teachers are also one of the most important people through life because they are the ones who help people to achieve their goals; moreover, they are always there in the first three and most important stages of human development. These previous ideas clearly attached not only the transcendental teachers’ role, but also how they inspire. Marlene and Franco presented this topic very concisely and deeply because they considered the practical and the theoretical aspects.

I agree with them in the sense that most of the time teachers spend more time with teenagers or children than their own families do; therefore, we are responsible of being able to get students attention effectively, help them to discover and improve their capacities, and lead them to learn how to contribute with the neighbour. It is crucial to get students’ attention because they will accomplish our objective, which is the learning process. Therefore, students will be learning not only the academic contents, but also social aspects. This integral learning is vital considering the paradox situation in which in some part of the world a scientist is trying to create vaccines to help people to recover from different viruses, but in other part of the world another scientist is trying to invent an atomic bomb to destroy some specific territory. Consequently, if the educational process succeeded in an integral manner, the world would be so different. As a result, I can say that nowadays this big responsibility is in somehow on the teachers’ hands because they really inspire students what and how to be in the future.

Yes, I Am

Tal Ben-Shahar explains the issue of happiness from a scientific point of view and considering practical aspect assures that it is possible to be happier if somebody changes from inside the idea of being happy only with achieving success. According to the author being happy is something that it is not related with the external success because sooner or later people start to feel unsatisfied again; I completely agree with this idea, and it is one of my arguments to support my happy life. In my opinion, it is not so difficult being happier every day; the problem arises because most of the time people complain about all the situations that they have to face, focusing all their strengths on those specific moments leaving aside other beautiful moments of life that let you experience happiness, like family, friends, and even living.

I am absolutely happy because I based my life on the process of accomplishing the established goals, considering the positive every day aspects, and understanding all my life purposes. I base my three ideas considering the fact that everyday runs faster than the previous day; I can hardly remember that I thought I was never going to be sixteen because that idea represented too much time passing for me, but here I am nearly to finish one of my dreams at twenty two years of experiencing life. As a result, I can say that life is temporary, and it was created to make the most of it, but if people do not focus their life on the relevant things like happiness, they will live wasting in some way the real opportunity of living. I thank God to let me understand this relevant aspect of life because I know that without him, I had not been able to understand what living really means.

Living Means Being Optimist

According to Bruno Bozzetto's presentation from my point of view living means being optimist. People usually have to face different situations where they have to choose on facing them with a favorable view or with a negative one. Beside the election that people make, if they decide to keep living that means they are waiting something better; therefore, they are optimist after all.

Bruno Bozzetto shows us a metaphor of the creation of the world; at the first step, he created the earth; second, the vegetation; third, the animals; fourth, the humanity, and finally, the urbanization. Everything was happiness at the fourth step when people lived without so many technology, but when people started to be civilized, they started to be as barbarian as possible. There were people shooting each other, street crime, and suicide, among others. The music in the presentation started to be an uncomfortable noise. At that point, Bozzetto observed the situation, deleted that world, and threw it away. At the end, he had a box full with balls, the happy music started again as it was at the beginning till the fourth step, and he went up stairs simulating going to bed at night.

This shows me that this is a Bozzetto habit, he wakes up every morning trying to create a new world, then he tries to delete every bad attitude or situation at the end of the day, and he goes to bed wanting to start over again. Therefore, he decides to live, and living means being optimist always trying to start over and over again.
